DoD HOSTED CONFERENCE ANNUAL REPORTS
In accordance with OMB's Memorandum 17-08, Amending OMB Memorandum M-12-12, Promoting Efficient Spending to Support Agency Operations, dated November 25, 2016 the Department of Defense shall publically report agency-sponsored conferences from the previous fiscal year where the net expenses associated with the conference were in excess of $100,000.
The number of qualifying DoD hosted conferences during Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 that exceeded the $100,000 total cost threshold is 137; an increase of 22 conferences from FY 2016. Costs are mainly attributed to the following: travel, food, audio-video, and contracts for conference support and services.
In comparison to FY 2016, the aggregate total cost of FY 2017 DoD hosted conferences is approximately $40.797 M; an increase of approximately $7.05 M from FY 2016. The average FY 2017 cost per conference is approximately $297,785; slightly higher than FY 2016 average ($293,452). The average FY 2017 conference cost is approximately $9.00 per DoD sponsored attendee.

Total costs include the following: audio-video, facilities, supplies, contracts and costs associated with travel. The aggregate total cost of these conferences is approximately $33.74 M. The average cost per conference is approximately $293,452. The average FY 2016 conference cost is approximately $8.54 per DoD sponsored attendee.
